Last Wednesday, I officially took my seat as a member of the 191st Massachusetts General Court., surrounded by my family and many supporters and friends, I took the oath of office, swearing to uphold the Constitution of the State of Massachusetts and the United States. It was an exciting day as my fellow legislators and I affirmed our collective commitment to improving the lives of all residents of our state. Throughout the swearing-in ceremony, which segued directly into our first legislative meeting, I was joined at my desk on the House floor by my husband, Phil,, while my parents, Ray and Grace, and my sons, Dylan and Foster, watched on from the House Gallery. We were all honored to observe the traditions of the seating of a new legislature, many dating back decades. With the pomp and circumstance, the ceremonies of last Wednesday were a fitting way to start the session. Now that I am sworn-in, I look forward to carrying out my responsibilities as your State Representative, working to improve transportation infrastructure throughout Massachusetts, fully fund public schools for our students, and preserve our environment and natural resources for generations to come. Please join me on this adventure--I will rely on your thoughts, ideas, experiences, and expertise as we partner to better our commonwealth! Legislation Filing Deadline As a part of the "Freshman Class" of legislators in the 191st General Court, my fellow new members and I are already under a time crunch, as the deadline for filing legislation is January 18th! As this date is rapidly approaching, I have been working diligently on several proposals that I intend to file this session related to transportation and the environment, among other initiatives. While I have many years of experience working on transportation and municipal issues at the local and regional levels, I will always welcome input from my constituents. If you have thoughts or ideas for additional proposals you would like to be considered for submission this session, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and my Legislative Aide, Mason Heilman. You can reach us at the link below. I look forward to collaborating with you! Inauguration
