Today, I announce my candidacy for State Representative of the 15th Middlesex District, hoping to succeed Jay Kaufman, who is retiring. Jay has been a great public servant, an active proponent of civic engagement and a true believer in good government. As someone who has devoted her life to service through government, I believe I have the ability, knowledge and most importantly the experience to follow Jay in serving the people of Lexington and Woburn to the high standards that they have come to expect.
My professional career has been spent working to better the communities I’ve served - as a municipal manager, as a community development director, as someone who has helped to enact statewide legislation, and as an official on numerous regional and state-wide boards. Collaboration, respect, consensus-building and strategic planning have been the core values and skills that I have brought to every civic project in which I have been involved. I am proud and honored to have been elected and to be currently serving as a second term Lexington Selectman and previously as a Planning Board member. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than helping people solve problems. At a time when our nation is politically fractured, I believe government, when done right, can be a shining example and can truly make a difference in people’s lives. Campaigns are critical – this is when candidates connect with voters to hear the pressing needs of the day. I look forward to continuing the dialog I’ve had with many of you, to meeting new people, and to learning about issues which impact your lives. Because we are stronger together and because our democracy needs all players in order to thrive, I encourage you to engage in this campaign. I hope to earn your vote! |
